Fletchers expose Boomer
With 10 great beaches in Vancouver, Saturday seemed like a great day to stroll along the waterfront. Sure it was a bit chilly, but hey, it was March after all! Besides, if it had been hot and sunny, any of the beaches around English Bay would have been packed! We had a few hours before our fabulous Via Rail trip to Jasper, so I wanted to find some sand with a view.
On our quest, Jan toured us around Point Grey through the UBC campus. I spotted a beach sign but she wouldn't stop: "Wreck Beach? No way Boomer! You might be okay with clothing optional today, but the rest of us would freeze!"
What wimps! Oh well, a bit further along, we pulled in at Spanish Banks: fine sand with excellent views to the north-east of West- and North Vancouver, Stanley Park, and the city core. And since there weren't many people out yet, I decided to see what Wreck Beach would have been like... Lucky thing I came to my senses quickly, because Katharine spotted two bears coming along the beach with a cute Vancouver girl and her Dad!
After a bit of pleasant growling with them, I noticed it was time to get to the Pacific Central Station. Even though I was just going to be tagging along as usual, I was sure looking forward to the train and tonight's Romance by Rail experience with Katharine and Eric!
But that is a whole different story!
