Canadian Polar Bear History

Cathy, Boomer, Bea  & the "new" bears direct from  Manitoba
"The most famous polar bears in the world are the ones who live  on the Manioba coast of Hudson Bay, and come into the little town of Churchill every fall on their annual trek out onto the sea ice.”
Therefore, when Cathy Senecal from Manitoba instigated the Canadian Chapter’s Travelling Teddy Program she naturally chose a distinctively Canadian Polar Bear. Not only that, Boomer, our very first bear, and ALL the new regional bears were actually bought in Churchill, Manitoba –the home of real polar bears!

In December 2010 the number of our furry ambassadors expanded to six and we now have regional bears in Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada. These new furry fellows join our very first Canadian travelling teddy – the polar bear Boomerang B. Bear (“Boomer”) and “Eh Bear”, who is a much travelled little brown bear.
